Jennifer Jancuska is traveling to Tokyo and Morioka in collaboration with Akutagawa Prize, Tanizaki Prize, and Murasaki Shikibu Prize winning author, Mieko Kawakami in the making of a new musical for the Broadway stage. Jennifer is the director and choreographer of the new work.
While in Tokyo, Jennifer is available for a limited number of guest teaching engagements & collaborations.

This class is designed for dance and theatre artists to enhance skills and versatility in the style of contemporary Broadway theatre dance while developing professional skills for innovative collaboration between performing artists and director/choreographers. Students will exercise principles of preparation, instinct, communication, grace, intention and specificity that can be applied in any creative setting. The class focus and parameters also provides students with a unique and authentic experience inside the activation of new Broadway musicals.
Each class starts with a stamina and isolation driven warm-up, followed by the teaching of choreography and then enters the layering process of collaborative staging. The final 20 minutes are saved for a “discussion & discoveries” style Q & A.

For seven years, Jennifer has led the TONY Award Winning Broadway production of Hamilton as Resident Choreographer. Working alongside the top three casting agencies in the USA, she has set a new bar for auditions and production excellence. Her expertise is unparalleled. This class introduces students to the principals of great auditioning: expert storytelling, focus, specificity, fluidity, improv and Broadway level dance technique, style, preparation and presentation.
Students should bring resumes if applicable for review and discussion. The final 20 minutes are saved to review & discuss these materials for clarity in the casting process.

This is a “discussion and Q & A” master class designed to introduce and prepare students for opportunities to study and work in New York City.
